Last year, for Harvest Thanksgiving we supported The Good Shepherd Ministry who look after the homeless people who live on the streets within Wolverhampton. This year we are supporting their sister charity which is The Good Shepherd Relief in Need based in Bilston (Charity Number 1177783) – this is also one of the Mayor of Wolverhampton’s chosen charities this year. The charity support homeless individuals and families in our City who have moved one step up the ‘homeless’ ladder and have managed to secure some accommodation.
However, if you bear in mind that whilst all local authorities have a legal obligation to find shelter for the homeless they do not supply any clothing or household goods; so if you think of all the items that you have in your homes these are what are needed. Having contacted the charity recently, they have made us aware that they are in desperate need for children’s clothes, both boys and girls, between the ages of 5 and 12 years.
HARVEST COLLECTION: ITEMS OF BRAND NEW CHILDREN’S WEAR
So for this year’s Harvest we are being a little non-conventional and asking for donations of brand new clothes (packaging or labels still present), for boys and girls, between the ages of 5 and 12 years which can be passed directly onto The Good Shepherd Relief in Need based in Bilston. They would particularly like underwear items and clothing items in preparation for the cold weather (wellingtons, shoes, coats, hats, scarves and gloves). We will discuss this with the children in the forth coming days.
