Newbridge Preparatory School has been an Independent Day School in Wolverhampton since 1937, welcoming boys aged from 2 years old until 7 years and girls from 2 years to 11 years.
It operates a Lower School consisting of: Pre-Nursery (TOTS), Nursery, Reception and Years 1 and 2. Girls and boys enjoy sharing new classrooms, a huge playground, secret garden ,climbing apparatus and a beautiful mature garden. TOTS and Nursery have their own garden areas.
At the end of Year Two boys leave us to enter local maintained schools or Preparatory Schools.
Lower School is housed in a new building opened in 2008.
Nursery was built in 1990.
Upper School classes occupy the traditional Georgian house which has been transformed to provide spacious, modern facilities.
Upper School is for girls from 7 to 11 years old, Years 3 - 6. There are specialist teaching rooms for ICT, Art and Design, Science and Music.
In Year 6, our girls enter examinations for a huge variety of Senior Schools and are supported and well prepared by staff. Each year Scholarships are gained to Independent Senior Schools.
Our Mission Statement is:
AIMING HIGH
BUILDING BRIDGES
PREPARING FOR LIFE
Our Lower School is open to girls and boys.
Girls and boys are welcomed into Newbridge TOTS after their second birthday.
In TOTS, pupils attend for a minimum of three sesssions. This is a brand new classroom with excellent resources. The Nursery Staff meet with parents daily. They have an outdoor area and garden. TOTS also use the school's playground and Nursery garden.
Girls and boys are then accepted into our purpose-built School Nursery following their third birthday (if spaces are available). All pupils enter nursery in the September after their third birthday.
They must attend for five mornings but can join us for any number of full days. The Nursery Officer coordinates the transition of children from TOTS to Nursery and works with staff.
All Nursery children move into the Reception class together in September. This class is full time.
In our OFSTED Inspection of June 2008, our Foundation Stage (TOTS, Nursery, Reception) was judged as OUTSTANDING. This standard applied to all areas inspected.
In our Independent School's inspection, Foundation Stage was listed as a strength of the school.
Small Classes
We recognise the importance of good supervision and concentrate on small class sizes and a high staff ratio. There is a teaching assistant in every Lower School class assisting and supporting our highly qualified teachers. Three Teaching assistants support staff in Upper school.
Practical Activity
There is an emphasis on practical activity, with excellent facilities and resources for children to enjoy. We also have beautiful grounds that provide an attractive environment for both learning and recreation. Our Nursery has a self contained garden that lends itself to working as an Outdoor Classroom.
The Right Foundation
We concentrate on providing each child with the right educational start in a caring and stimulating environment.
Modern Facilities
Our new Lower School Building opened in February 2008. This provides new classrooms, a shared teaching area, a library and a new multi-purpose sports' hall. These facilities have enhanced and brightened the learning experience of all the children in the school. Boys and girls work together in small classes. Each class is led by a qualified teacher, supported by teaching assistants.
