Year 3 and 4 visited Kingswood for a 3 day/2 night residential visit. On arrival they immediately unpacked in one of 3 dormitories, Sparrows, Skylarks and Woodpigeons. The girls undertook various challenges which involved teamwork, orienteering, discovering safe ways to climb trees and exploring the woodlands. They enjoyed a tasty dinner and then in the evening Mrs Fisher and Mrs Johnson arrived with a bag full of bubbles and glow sticks so we could play in the dark. After an excited night’s sleep the girls were up bright and early for their stone-age day. They had to build their own shelters, cook bread over an open fire, work out how to transport Stonehenge rocks and forage for their own food. Later, the girls created woodland puppets and enjoyed a special pizza party. On our last day we experienced a walk to the local farm where farmer John showed us his combine harvester. We walked for 3 and a half miles altogether before enjoying our lunch. In the afternoon we had time to meet the Kingswood pets; tortoise, rabbit and guinea pig. Miss Hughes, Mrs Castle and I were most impressed by the behaviour and teamwork shown by the girls. Very well done to you all! Mrs Whiting
